Meat Loaf musical is a joyful and uplifting experience

BAT OUT OF HELL on London's West End is an unmissable experience - especially for fans of Meat Loaf's work.

The show, which is playing this summer in London's West End, is a love story based in a future fantasy land where the hero, Strat (Andrew Polec), pursues the beautiful Raven (Christina Bennington); daughter of the controlling Falco (Rob Fowler) and Sloane (Sharon Sexton).

A simple plot played with sassiness, poignancy and humour, the tale inevitably weaves in several recognisable songs - as well as two new additions purpose-written by Jim Steinman.

Bat Out Of Hell is packed with visual treats, whether in the use of a motorcycle and car on-stage or simply the faultless dancing.

And while Meat Loaf admirers will have a particularly good night, it's not just for the die-hard fans - even those who are new to the star's discography with find Bat Out Of Hell to be a joyful and uplifting experience.

Highlights include a heart-rending performance of Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad from Danielle Steers as Zahara, and a cheeky incarnation of Paradise By The Dashboard Light from Fowler and Sexton.

In fact, the only downside of the whole thing is how fast it all flies by - despite being three hours long all-in-all, audiences would have been quite happy to sit there for much longer.
