| Went to see a very talented guy called David Ford at a charity solo gig in Birmingham on Thursday night. He announced he was going to play one more song before the interval and sat down at the piano, introducing the next song as "A song about two people destined never to be together" before singing "The sirens are screaming..." and so on. A truly amazing version, slightly trimmed down but played in full on the piano (with his own improv-ed motorbike solo). I'm informed the bootleg should be available soon, at which point I will endeavour to post a link. Very entertaining evening though, with some interesting and funny covers performed (Toxic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5roNfrwLHU, Relax, Stay Another Day, Lonely This Christmas) in addition to his brilliant solo stuff. If you want to check him out, Space Monkey recommends DF's solo album "I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused" and also his former band Easyworld's album "This Is Where I Stand". If you get chance to see him live then do so. You won't be disappointed. Maybe depressed, but not disappointed. Also check out State Of The Union http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv4QBRS-U50 | |
