|I really enjoyed the brutally sloppy 1st quarter. After that the game blew yeasty gopher balls.|
I especially HATED the ads that pandered to Black history month and the fact that the game marked the first time a black coach made it to the Superbowl. I think it was a Coke ad that actually compared this "achievment" to things like Rosa Parks' bus seat and MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech.
Okay, so being the first black head coach in the NFL EVER is significant, but that happened a while ago. Once that barrier was broken, the only thing keeping a black coach from the Superbowl was being good enough and having a good enough team. The fact that this year marked the first time that happened, and it happened twice, is COINCIDENTAL, and historically significant only as trivia. I don't see how the cause of black people is advanced one iota by a black coach appearing in the Superbowl for the first time.
And for that matter, when is the last time a Chinese head coach made the Superbowl? Is there even a Chinese head coach in the NFL? Or any kind of an Asian coach? Isn't there some organization that should be up in arms over the lack of Asian presence in the NFL's coaching ranks?
How about a woman? Or a midget? Never saw a midget coach an NFL team. Bet they've never even interviewed one for the job.
Okay, stepping down from my soap-box now.
