Finally bothered to track down a copy of Asia's Archiva 1 album, which contains a demo of 'Quest For The Key' (or ALO).
The track is great, and definately the best thing on Archiva 1.
It was originally a demo for ELO 2, when Jim was on board as producer. It is written by John Payne & Andy Nye, but I would suggest that Jim has had some influence on it.
The verses are straight ahead rock 'n' roll with a 'Delta House' vibe, but the choruses are definately ELO, with some great string parts and big BV's.
The choruses end with a great melody 'hook' on the line 'looking for the key to her heart'.
Can't believe ELO 2 or Asia never used this; great track.
I'll try & post it online somewhere; be interesting to see if anyone else thinks Jim has 'worked' on this.
