The only track that I don't really like (but I listen to it because I usually listen to the whole thing. I don't really have any tracks that I skip, except this one ;-) is "40 Days". It just didn't grab me the way the others did.

I wasn't really looking forward to it, to be honest. The last album I really enjoyed was "Couldn't have said it better" and then I was very, very disappointed in "The monster is loose". I listened to "Hang cool teddy bear" only once all the way through. Now I can only play a handful of songs, "Peace on earth", "Los Angeloser" (never heard "Living on the outside" more than once), "Song of madness" and "Elvis in Vegas" (which was co-written by Desmond Child and was, I believe, almost part of "The Monster is Loose" and I think that and "Blind as a Bat" were his strongest offerings for Meat). I couldn't be bothered giving it another go.

So I wasn't looking forward to this album but I was hopeful, I was always hopeful after "Monster is Loose" that he would make another album that I would enjoy. But I heard the single "All of me" (the radio edit) on YouTube and I didn't mind it. I thought, hmmm, that was OK. Then I played it again. And again. And again. And when they took it down I found myself wanting to listen to this song. But I couldn't. The only way to purchase the song was iTunes and I wasn't interested in that and thought I'd just wait for the album. So I knew, if I was disappointed in the rest, I'd still like that song.

I got it the day before the AFL Grand Final and I lay there and listened to it in the dark and I thought, wow. I'm not just being optimistic here. I'm not going to listen to this about two times and then just switch on Bat 2 again. I found myself wanting to listen to this album over and over. And there were only two tracks that didn't really grab me, "Party of one", which I ended up liking, and "40 days".

And the end of the album is for me incredibly moving. I'm not sure what to make of his vocal but the big bit of music is just wow.

I'd also been apprehensive about the rap, because there are rap bits in two songs, but I found myself really enjoying them.

It's among my favourite Meat Loaf albums and it doesn't sound like Jim either. And I was so disappointed about the AFL thing. Damn, he put out this amazing album and that happened and all these people were saying how crap he was. And I was still in this state, "I love this album!!!"

I honestly hope that it does well when it's released worldwide, because I don't think anyone's really talking about it over here. And "Bat out of Hell", I believe, first succeeded Down Under.
