I wouldn't generally think of Type O Negative as being a steinmanesque band, but I was just listening to Dead Again in the car. Of course the short, instrumental interludes and the long introductions with completely different motifs than the main part of the long songs are similar to Jim's work, so there's that.

The song September Sun, though, struck me as being kind of steinmanesque. It starts with slow, subtle piano and builds to a volcano of bombast and pathos, then goes to piano again. And to bombast again. And to piano again.

Recommended.
