| It really was awesome. Thanks again to Jacqueline and to Will for cajoling me into having one of the best evenings of my life, against my intentions. :) I'll try and keep this spoiler free because people are still waiting to go. Message for Jim: the stuff you maybe can't tell through pure visuals. A) the temperature. You can feel the flames from the back of the room. Also I swear the entire room rose about 3 degrees C for the finale when the entire audience stood up and joined in. Everyone was buzzing. B) the air becomes thicker as the show continues. People are peopling their underwear. Maybe. Haha! I thought lightning might strike. Such humidity. C) the audience were hoarse by the end. This is how we offer our throats. There were a group of loud drunken women right at the back yelling drunken stuff near the end of the show. One of them stopped me on the way out and asked me where they could do Meat Loaf karaoke because apparently I look like I would know (?) so I said I don't know but pointed them to that Steinman karaoke playlist I made on spotify, if they just want to try using that with a phone. I wonder if it was done kind of racial assumption. The little touches were great. The bits where we're getting teased with what's coming up whether through words or music. The nods to the Dream Engine, and snippets from it. The Bad For Good poster. The t-shirt. The use of the "lah de dee" bit from "who needs the young" turning up separately from the rest of the song, as an instrumental bit. The way I think the choreography for Deadringer For Love is exactly the same as the original music video (but I could be wrong!) Ah. Anything else? Oh yes. It's generally awesome. After it was done, I was thinking... I don't think my senses are working properly. Everything just feels like electric. And I am so glad Strat didn't accidentally himself to death. That wouldn't be a good ending. And after he spent all that time monologuing himself back to health after the intermission. Maybe they need to make a barrier of high friction material near the edge to prevent anyone sliding off. But he was so good! Just continued right on. I didn't know that "taking over from Meat Loaf" would include the regular shrugging off near-death part. | |
