I listened to the samples and it makes me realise how much I like Meat's voice on Steinman songs. Even when Meat struggles to sing and his voice deteriorates he is much more listenable to me than a young Tyce.
I really, really do not like the guy's voice. There seems to be something very phoney about the whole thing. He seems to exaggerate far too much for his voice's lack of maturity:

Sometimes it's the night.
Euh-and the way it seems to cry
Euh-and whisper Terr-euh-fying secrets of yer eehh.... (inaudible)
Sometimes it's de D-euh-ayyyy
Euh-and the sun has got no muuuuuhrcy
Lighting up and beuhning anything that's in its wuayyy

The way the pitch drops in his voice on I'll Kill you the words "way-euhs..." "day-euhs." etc makes it almost sound like it is a Meat Loaf parody by Al Yankovic or something. And then the screeching high stuff sets in and I have to switch the sample off.

I just can't take it, sorry. I'd much rather listen to the backing tracks on their own. In fact to me almost any background singer Jim and Meat originally worked with would have sounded amazing on this in their day in comparison I'm sure.

Some of the acoustic versions are not too bad and his reigned in singing is then much better and listenable but even then the high pitch (sure he can reach it) becomes screechy and unlistenable to me.
I'd rather listen to Nothing but a merciless night by the fans for sure.

Just throwing Steinman songs at him, some ok-ish produced tracks and Julie Bell artwork doesn't make him a Meat Loaf replacement to me.

I have a crap voice too. I'm not the only one it seems even if one can maintain pitch etc which sure he can do.
