i believe that for the musical (assuming it reaches fruition - fingers crossed), will need Meat Loaf's involvement in order for it to resonate with the general public.

as much as many folk here were/are against the idea of a Bat without Jim, i'm sure there are many more who would look on the idea of a Bat without Meat as suspect.
i do, however, think that Meat's involvement should be kept to a minimum.
he should not be a part of the onstage show. as Ryan said it should be similar to Starlight Express or We Will Rock You, with unknown/new talent.
i think he should be used for promotion only. y'know, interviews with the media etc. agreed that there is a lot of great talent on board this project but, like it or not, the first name that comes to most minds when mentioning BOOH is that of Meat Loaf.

the main problem with this scenario is that egos may begin to rear ugly heads...

...oh and of course it should be named "Jim Steinman Presents: Bat Out Of Hell: The Musical" or summat similar (finally, credit where due*)...

*accidently typed in "sue" at first - dunno if this is a prediction or just due to the fact that i have clumsy fingers and the "d" and "s" keys are neighbours on my keyboard.
