Psycho should be Number 1, IMO. To me, that is the ultimate example of film-making and I always notice something different everytime I watch it. It's never the same film twice. Plus, I love the whole voyeur thing because you almost want Bates to cover his tracks, you grow apprehensious hoping the car sinks into the swamp. I love that. Awesome, awesome film, masterpiece of a black comedy as well.

I'm surprised you did not also mention Herzog's superb "Nosferatu" remake. Then again, I am a little biased on that. I LOVE that film
