I find it amazing that the USA can preemptively invade a nation let it spin into sectarian turmoil imprison the one man that was able to control the people have him tried without due process in a kangaroo and invalid court and execute him. Remember, before Saddam was president of Iraq he was a CIA agent, one of America's strongest allies in the Middle East during the 80's, and the recipient of US military and financial aid. UN inspector even told a US Senate committee that they had “identified many US-manufactured items exported pursuant of licenses issued by the US department of commerce that were used to further Iraq’s chemical and nuclear weapons development and missile delivery system development programs." The committee in 1992 even found that 17 individual shipments totaling some 80 batches of biomaterial (including two batches of anthrax, two batches of botulism, West Nile fever, brucella melitensis, which damages major organs, and clostridium perfringens, which causes gas gangrene) were sent to Iraq during the Reagan years. Even after Saddam ordered the gassing of the Kurds the shipments continued!!! Let us also not forget how Rumsfeld continually met with Saddam under Reagan gave him military and financial support and urged him to invade Iran.
The entire situation is very sad and weird.
