> 1) About you: Markus, turned 34 on June 1st. Living in a small village "near" Heidelberg, between Frankfurt and Stuttgart. > 2) How you found Jim's music: It must have been at the age of 11 or 12 when I first saw Meatīs video for Modern Girl at the TV and I really liked it. At this time I found Bat & Dead Ringer in my mothers Album collection. I started with Bat and was hooked from the very first moment. I guess I was jimfected without knowing it first within a few minutes when I was sitting there in front of the stereo with an open mouth and even wider opened ears. :) Thank you Jim! > 3) Have you ever met Jim (details): Yes, and Iīll never forget it. It was at the Tanz Der Vampire - Preview in Stuttgart March 30th 2000. The day before I emailed Jacqueline that Iīll go to this show and I asked her if she knew if Jim was there too. She told me heīll be there and wished me luck to meet him. So when I was at the theater (which had a hotel connectet) I saw a huge flower bouquet which defintely came from JD. :) I thought about following them to the hotel room where Jim was but decided not to be a stalker. Later I looked through a window and coincidentally when I turned around I saw Jim walking down the floor. I only saw his back but I knew immediately that this was my dream coming true. I reached him and tapped him on his shoulder softly because I didnīt want to scare or terrify him. It seemed nobody else recognized the musical genius instead of me! So he turned around slowly and smiled and asked me who I was. I still wonder how I managed to say ANYTHING! Well, it wasnīt much and it wasnīt really intelligent but... I told him my name and that Iīm a huge fan of his music and lyrics and when he said "Oh, Markus then I know who you are, I read your message on the board" and "Jacqueline told me that youīre coming today" I felt like in another dimension. :) He signed a Bat II CD for me and my Dream Engine CDīs and the back of BFG where I already had a signature of Roman Polanski from the same day. ;) When he looked at the BFG picture he was like "Oh,ohhh....... thatīs long ago". Well, I told him something like he still looks amazing and I think itīs true. He was so kind and grateful and lovable... I saked him about a photo with him and he said "Yeah, I like photos with me". We decided to take them later after the show where Barry Keating was too. So far this was the only time I met Jim in person and I will treasure this moment in my heart forever as one of the greatest moments in my live because it was my possibility to thank him in person for every word and note he ever wrote and which means so much to me. On a side note: The pictures were shot by a young man who later disappeared with Jim and Barry. Years later in NY after one of the DOTV shows we attended a young man spoke to me just at the moment I was about to leave the theater. I didnīt remember him but then he told me that he was the one taking the photos in Stuttgart! He was German too and told me that he was Jimīs driver back then. What a small world we have! Oh, a funny little moment was this year in February when I met Jacqueline and the other fans in Vienna after one of the Tanz Concert Shows where she called Jim and we were able to talk to him for a few moments on the batphone. :) Jacqueline, youīre the best! > 4) Favorite song: As always, impossible for me to choose. Sorry. > 5) Your other interests: My girlfriend. ;) Wish me luck it will last forever this time. Photography. Singing - it was a really great pleasure and very emotional experience to get the chance twice to perform What Part Of My Body Hurts The Most in front of an audience that really seemed to like this song and itīs interpretation. > 6) Book you're currently reading: Uhm, no book at the moment. But I highly recommend The Suicide Treatment by Brian M. Van Hise, a great writer and a really emotional and passionate piano playing Steinfan, great guy and member of Rockman Record. Guess my alltime favourite book will be 1984. That was fun Jacqueline. :) Markus. | |
