What was subtle, in my thinking, was the asterisk itself. Without words it said to me, that my voice is acknowledged, that there is a difference I speak of, and that without that, it was being said he met Jim. I did not believe that there was any ambiguity or vagueness of who he was meaning. The "it" that I got, was the "it" that I expressed. And I was not being snide. I was nodding. Saying, yeah, I know what you mean and its cool.
I don't really bother Dave, even though Dave is clearly bothered.
