Well, I haven't posted much in recent months because, quite frankly, I really don't know anything about what is going on with Jim and related artists beyond what you guys say at this forum. I may be a fan of Jim's music, but I don't know squat about what is going on with him. I've learned to sit back and shut up. As for the Q&A- 1) Umm, can I skip this first question? 2) Long before I knew who Jim was, I heard and enjoyed songs he had written that have been playing on the radio. Since I really liked AFL, I had been meaning to pick up BOOH 2 for a long time but never did until I heard, and not to mention enjoyed, Meat's version of "Good Girls Go to Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere)" playing on a jukebox in a local Pizza Hut. I bought Bat 2, absolutely loved it, and grew curious about the man who actually *wrote* the songs on both that and the original Bat album. I since learned that there were quite a few songs of Jim's I was already familiar with and liked, then desired to track down more of his work, and the rest is history:) 3) Nope 4) It's a tie between Fire Inc.'s "Tonight Is What It Means to Be Young" and the Holly Sherwood's version of "Good Girls". It's kind of a sad story with the latter song, as it was Meat's version which I first enjoyed and which first led me down the road to becoming a Steinfan, but when I heard just a clip of Holly's version at Amazon.com, it almost completely razed my enjoyement of Meat's version. And when I finally bought the Original Sin CD and heard Holly's GGGTH in full, it not only became one of my favorite songs of all time, but I almost didn't bother listening to Meat's version anymore. 5) Other intrests of mine include Japanese monster movies, Anime, fantasy roleplaying games, mythology and folklore, the Cthulhu Mythos, herpetology the music of Akira Ifukube, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, and Roxette. 6) Just finished reading the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" graphic novels. Word of advice: Do NOT bother with the lame movie based (loosely) on this. The graphic novels kick it's ass in to many ways to mention. | |
