I was not intending to make a comment about Boyzone the band or THEIR phenomenon, but the phenomenon that they had that charting with No Matter What. There are reasons why such should never have taken place: number one, it is a boy band, number two it is a stage show extract, and number three it was not the most bombastic production one could have imagined. It was where it shouldn't have been from a source that was unusual, in a production that was as unSTeinman as Steinman could put out....and all this came together and made a rousing success. THAT, to me, is a phenomenon. I do believe I could have made my meaning clearer if I had phrased it as "the phenomenon with Boyzone and No Matter What" or some such; but this is what I mean. Boy bands are not considered a phenomenon to me, but a parasitic exploitation of innocent girls' developing urges. Well, that's my opinion. >Rinkoff's Meat Loaf version is far and away > the most involving. I'll have to give it a listen one of these days. >it is far more dynamic and for me the > definitive version. Because of Meat Loaf, or because of the production? I suppose you'd say a little bit of both. > B.T.W. what happened? I heard they signed for Ravenous > (U.S. Releases) about 6 months before they 'went > Solo'(split up!). Heard nothing notable about Ravenous > since. Maybe they weren't hungry. Nooo, I suppose that there is something inherently unmarketable about a split boy band. | |
