The special quality in Jim's songs, which I credit all with having to do with his careful design of objective relatability, is that most people can have the same list. What is ingenious about his works, is that they have the same element of thought within them. Even though every person experiences his songs in their own ways, and he even had his own experiences and feelings form the nucleus of their structure, they stand up as modern anthems of life. Original Sin, for example, is good for anyone who is in a situation where someone is taking too much advantage of what is a limited resource, be that resource a feeling, a generosity, a job, or of nature itself. The modern society is rife with people taking more than they need, because nothing is enough. It's not enough...... The bulbous self-indulgence promoted by a set of lines issued by modern day oligarchic tyrants, which created the "me" generation which continues to multiply itself, is present in the general message of the song. Who has not experienced the kinds of pressures that they give? And, there are some who buy into the more, more more of needs, to justify their buying into the package. In this, necessity is not the mother of invention, but the invention is the mother of its marketing. > > I hope I haven't misunderstood what you said, but these > songs have "happened" to me in real life (being completely > honest here :P) > > Who'd Do The Dirty?
