You were right to advise lotus_nz to look at the raw headers of the email. It might give a hint as to where it really came from. One thing that's notable is that a person can send an email from *any address*. Any person can send an email with a "From:" address of anyone they like. I could send an email with a "From:" address of jim@jimsteinman.com or pidunk@gmail.com or whoever. The email would still go out, be received, I just wouldn't be able to find out what the replies were.
So this pidunk@gmail.com might not even have that email address!
But they probably do. It's easier.
I reckon it's a friend of lotus_nz that's playing a prank...
