There are so many situations like that. The first cut is the deepest, the true love lost, and all that. I'm glad to say that the song is not true of my past with Jim in the fact that the actual scenario did not take place. When he discussed the song with me he made it clear one other thing about it....that the "Oh I know" was meant to be a contradiction to the statement before it, not as a confirmation of that statement. He described that the "Oh I know" would properly had been written as "Oh I know better" or something like that, because I'm the one he wrote of, if he was the lead character in the song, and he knows I loved him, rather than believed that I did not. But there was one time when I didn't recognize him and left him to drown in his frustration, thinking for a period of time or a contemplative challenge, that I did not love him. Later as we had more experiences in our lives, he learned that the misunderstanding took place with some cause, as my memory had certain lapses in it. The title "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad" relates to the number of houses he has arranged to buy in his life, and the number of those that went to me. | |
