Venom has put this very well. There are two reasons why I shut up about this situation. The first was that I know that Jim feels very strongly about not banning anyone from this very open format and as this is HIS fansite, we, as well as JD, need to respect that. He's made it clear that only impersonation posts will get you tossed. Also, I figured that Jim is over 18, capable of making good decisions, and has the money to afford top legal advice on such matters as stalking fans. This person for me wasn't so much annoyance as a very real danger. I just lived through 3 years with an elderly father-in-law suffering from severe dementia and dealt extensively with the U of Iowa Pysch Hospitals regarding his condition and this woman made my skin crawl with amazing similarities. Giving her this format makes cases like hers worse! That was something that the hospital really drummed through to our family--things become more real for her. This really doesn't seem like harmless fan fiction to me--this person is immersed and thank goodness Jim said what he did to end it--at least for now. She needs help and this wasn't the place to get it. As sideline fans, it really doesn't affect us--if Jim, however, would hear that she's in the audience some night, he'd most likely have just cause to be nervous as hell... I just do not believe this was an appropriate format for her and her problems, nor was it safe for Jim to let it continue. I think it was handled very well and hopefully she'll get help instead of an audience.
