Oh hell yeah, I agree! It would have been very beautiful and a lovely thing to hear to have Davey on Bat 3, either Jim's real version or the dicky Desmond piece of crap that is TMiL.

But unfortunately, it seems Desmond's "special guests" were picked by virtue of their name being able to sell records, rather than necessarily what they brought to the sound. :o(
