I completely, unequivocally disagree. His voice is fantastic, his phrasing is brilliant and he possesses an idiosyncracy of tone completely unlike a bland boy band arhcetype -OR- your run of the mill Broadway performer.
His performances of Body could be anyone? He brings nothing unique to Speaking in Tongues, Left in the Dark?
I don't think you've actually LISTENED too closely to these boy bands if you think it's an apt comparison. Craporama coming from most of them. Ronan Keating and the others in Boyzone is one big snoozefest. The others are no real different.
