Yeah in the 60s he was most connected to Glenn Campbell, the 5th Dimension (Up Up and Away was his first hit--i think he was 17 or 18) and Richard Harris thanks to MacArthur Park. Other popular songs are All I Know, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Highwayman...
