Bat 1 is a winter album for me. This is underlined by the fact 'the snow is really piling up outside' and the California wind is chilly ;-)
As for the 'Hot Summer Night' argument, the song is past tense, so he's remembering ('It WAS a hot summer night...').
That's the way I see it, anyway. It's probably got just as much to do with the fact that the first time I remember playing the album was in the winter.
Bat 2 is summer all the way, though. I got the CD for my 15th birthday, in what was a glorious Indian summer in late September. And the song 'Out Of The Frying Pan' is DEFINITELY a summer tune :-)
