I did think about Manchester actually; I've been there lots of times and it is really cool but I got all tranfixed and overexcited by the whole London thing first. Celebrities on every street corner, streets paved with gold etc. If the worst comes to the worst I can always take a road drill and dig up Tottenham Court Road...
(Please don't shatter my delusions here - I'm busy clinging to them!)
I had a bit of a crazy week when I simultaneously decided that I hated my job and that I really liked London, woke up at the end of the week and found I had applied for a job pretty much on a whim. Am now desperately trying to make this work! Suspect strongly that London will eat all my money and then throw up all over me until I drown in a puddle of fetid Thames water vomit. But never mind, at least it'll be an experience.
