I'm confused. Are you saying Michael Crawford was the reason Barton died? Or are you saying he was a contributing factor? We'll never know for sure (save for the fact Crawford's casting was announced a day before, or after, Steve Barton died.) Barton had battled undiagnosed Bi-Polar disorder for most of his life. His family thought it was a bad case of alcoholism. It's way way way WAAAAY more complicated than it looks Also, I don't specifically blame Crawford for the failure of the show. I blame the producers who were all incompetent for the likes of this show. I blame Braunsberg for selling out and not stopping the show earlier. I blame Sonenberg for many reasons I won't go into. People say he's nice, I've never met the man, but based on some of the shit he's done I don't really like him. I blame Steinman for not being vocal against the show earlier, keeping his head down as if to make out it could be a hit and he would make lots of money out of it. I blame Crawford for choosing the wrong role. He should have been given Professor Abronsius. I blame Max and Mandy who were totally miscast, IMO. I blame the director John Rando and the choreographer John Carraffa. Whatever became of the more sensible choices John Caird, Jim Steinman and Daniel Ezralow? Why were William Dudley and Sue Blane ("Rocky Horror Show") replaced by David Gallo and Ann Hould-Ward? Why wasn't it a Kunze and Steinman collaboration? Why the HELL did Ives get involved? I'm really rough and tough about this one. TO ME, Crawford was the tip of the iceberg. Try and find the quotes from everybody at broadway.com. It's a laugh. It comes across that no one in the show knew what they were supposed to be part of. It's like they hired all of the wrong people | |
