| The Seegar Sessions is by no means a bad album, in fact the concept is pretty impressive. All the songs were recorded live choosing one take to keep(from what Bruce said) and all played on portable instruments. They recreated the traveling folk bands of early America and the whole album has a loose jam-band feel, lots of talent... That being said, there was nothing for me to grab on to personally or emotionally. Even though the themes of many of the songs still ring true today, I just can't identify with it. It's almost funny that he would bring back songs from the 1900's and make good selling album (2 if you count the live album) in 2006. You realize it's not a song about John Henry the legend, it was probably written when John Henry was still alive. My co-worker says it's one of her favorite albums, course she's 65. I'd say give it a chance. It's more of a novelty album to me. I'd prefer old Bruce, new Bruce, E-street Bruce and probably anything else he's done over the Seegar Sessions. Ain't no Dancing in the Dark :) > Aah, The Seegar Sessions is high on my wishlist. In fact, > I was thinking of buying it this week.
