Over The Top- Mohegan Sun

I have no idea what Justin is talking about in his post, but...Pudding reminded that nobody has made a post about the boots he uploaded.
I've had quite a while to listen to the ones I previously had, and nows time for a mini review. I'm going with the Over The Top from Mohegan Sun. This one was recommended to me (thanks Lewd!) cause I enjoy bare bones productions of usually large songs, and it's my favorite. I'm just going to assume Rob Evans is the lead vocals.

01. Pray Lewd
Always a good intro, I think it'd work better as an intermission song. Start with something gripping first, Like "Anything For Love"

02. Heaven Can Wait
Great vocal, not a special vocal, but better than most could do.

03. Read'em and Weep
Seems that Rob is trying to imitate Meat a little too much during most of it, but I love the background vocals. They use the "Manilow lyrics", I prefer the original. Rob's voice really come into it's own at the end. In whole, a good tune.

04. Total Eclipse Of The Heart
The piano seems a little sped up. The vocal seems to speed up and slow down without reason. Lyrics are getting jumbled. Not fan of this performance, lacks the power that the song carries. I hoped to turn around and see Rory Dodd take back the mic from male vocalist.

05. Making Love Out Of Nothing At All
Absolutely great performance. A hard song to really pull off with emotions, and this guy does...until 2:55 "it's nothing till I give it to you" mangles it. I don't think it fully recovers, though the attempt at the end note is impressive But it's still pretty good, and the only recording of this song by OTT and DE.

06. Holding Out For A Hero
I love this version. Love that they used the "Hot Summer Night" intro. Love the slower arrangement. Brings a little bit of a new light to the song and recovers what has been covered so many times before. This is probably the closest thing to a "rock version" of this that I've heard. And I love the guitar!

07. What Part Of My Body Hurts The Most
I'm assuming this is one of the earlier performances of this. The Dream Engine versions are much, much better. This is good, but Rob has really improved on this one.

08. Objects In The Rearview Mirror
My favorite version of this song, ever. I love the duet style arrangement. First time I heard that, it just made too much sense. Still as chilling a song as it ever was. I hope Jim uses this song and this arrangement in the Bat musical

09. Speaking In Tongues
Also love this. I like that although Jim is known for his long songs he can throw in a few shorter ones. Big fan of the guitar tone. And finding good in a bootleg, the lady laughing sells the humor (for those not getting it)

10. Two Out Of Three A'int Bad
The crowd really seemed to like it. Good vocal, but he doesn't own this. Still one of my often played tracks.

11. Safe Sex
Once it gets going, this is really good. Is it Elaine Caswell?

12. It's All Coming Back To Me Now
Not even close.

13. Braver Than We Are
I miss Karine.

14. I Would Do Anything For Love
I love this as well. Strong guitar and more production than the other songs without being over the top (sorry). Vocals are really, really good. I think i've played this more times than the original the past couple years.

15. Only When I Feel
I like this over the shorter Break It. "Our soul is a beast that goes bump in the night"...many great lines in this. I hope it's not a dead song. I think it would work better never switching to Break It.

16. For Crying Out Loud
Ain't no topping Meat. But he sure tries. I like only having the piano. This is good.

All of the above is my uneducated opinion. Please don't blow my computer up. I need it.
