| You don't have to have 'songwriting experience' to comment, and I appreciate any critique (good or bad). A song doesn't have to tell a story, and this lyric doesn't tell any 'story', other than someone has lost a love. Did the lover die, walk-out, find someone else? Who knows, it doesn't matter, make your own story up. The lyric is basically describing someone's feelings NOW, how they are continually haunted, and how they wish they were back when the relationship was first starting out. Incidentally, the lyric doesn't describe any type of 'regret', other than maybe 'my body has grown old...', you decide. The final line 'so many regrets...' indicates that some things have happened, but what....? All deliberately vague and yes, you are right, a 'mystery'. > It's hard to describe exactly why a listener does or does > not like a song lyric but I'd honestly have to say I do > not like it at all. > > I'd cancel it completely or shut it down completely j/k > > When I hear it I'm wondering why the lyric does not even > attempt to tell the story of what this guy > regrets/remembers.
