Of course not. > > Here I was looking forward to a nice period of lurking when I found that this comment just is too important to let off....and I explain my reasoning to be that if you feel so much like most or many, or even a significant population segment feels these feelings, then it seems to me like you write the song more about yourself, and think that others are like you. Because this is exactly sardonic, for any person, and if you are so depressed, I think that you may need some Zoloft. I don't believe that these attitudes as written in the lyric are healthy in anyone, and we all have memories. If you recall the present, you hear McCartney's lovely and upbeat song about his "Everpresent Past" and it is universal because it is not sardonic, and it is simply acknowledging that for everyone as we get older, we have these old chapters in our lives. Your own song lyric, based on Jim's song, is so much off the mark for the kind of person you envision Jim as being, and I remark concerning both of them, that I wonder how it is that you have connected yourself to someone to admire who is so different in emotional construct than you claim you are able to relate with. The reason why Jim Cypherd placed memories in his songs was so that he would have companionship in the creation of them even as he made them by himself, so that he would feel that I was a part of the project, that I would be able to relate with and share these works with him. It is one of those things that takes place between people, and the memories we have do not mean that they rule our lives, control our evolutions, or even our day-to-day experiences. They do not control our moods, they do not control or effect our abilities to make the necessary and optional adjustments that we must make in life. But we have memories, he has memories, and he chose to write of them. That he wrote the one line, "There is only one girl that I will ever love and that was so many years ago" refers to the time continuum, the past and the present merged, the timelessness of it, and there is no actual concept of time in reality if we update the lyric to the present, because this song became recorded after we were not all that long before together indeed. And you may not like that, you may not like to hear of that, but it is just the way it is. Indeed, in the truest sense, we loved long ago, we loved at all times, and there has not been a time when we have not loved, so it has made much sense to blend the past tense with the future tense. All that is between us, is the present. Love to Jim, hoping to be lurking a bit soon, Susan > > > If you are trying to synopsize Jim's kind of life, you are > > taking the most sardonic view possible and creating a > > caricature of a personality that is far beyond and > > different from that of anyone capable of having made the > > works you are "expanding".
