Speaking strictly for myself, I think Family Guy is much better. I have followed it since the beginning. Granted, the first few seasons were much better. Like every other show on TV, they start to lose their charm after too many years. The Brits have the right idea. One or two seasons and then go away.
American Dad just doesn't have the same outrageousness of Family Guy. And the whole space alien in the attic just never grabbed me. By the way, I loved the parody South Park did when they showed how Family Guy writes it's dialogue. That was hilarious. The best spoof of a spoof I've seen.
