I took my mum to see Meat at Bristol back in June, as she's a longtime fan and had always wanted to see him in concert. Despite the fact he was half a mile away (it was a football stadium), the venue decided it was too windy to put their big screens up and, to my mind, Meat sounded terrible on the few occassions I could actually pick his voice out above the band...she loved it. I guess in some ways my mum is a typical 'part time' music fan (she's in her 70's to be fair!). She knows who Jim Steinman is, loves his songs, but she REALLY just wants to hear Meat Loaf - and who am I to argue? Are the Strolling Bones any worse/better? | |
