Why are people here discussing the singers, and not the songs? The songs are timeless, they have layers of meanings, they can be interpreted in many ways by many people in their own lives, bring about life philosophies, life feelings, say feelings, and all the rest. I know that a few people here have discussed what events in their lives they tie songs to, or what songs they share, or songs they perform, but in terms of eloquent expression about what a song actually SAYS to them, is alot more than finding voices to hear.

Many years of feelings and dreams accompanied my hearings of songs like Bat Out Of Hell, For Crying Out Loud, Heaven Can Wait, Making Love Out Of Nothing At All, and Total Eclipse Of The Heart, before I ever really began paying a whole lot of attention to the writer. These were feelings of hopes and aspirations I felt in my life, things I wanted to be able to feel, things I wanted to be able to see others feeling, when dealing with the sentimental contents. I was made to believe that people could feel those ways about others, and as for myself that someone may hopefully feel those ways about me, but didn't put a whole lot of reliance on and didn't personalize it. My mother was able to look towards some singer's song for how she felt about her husband, and I wanted to find a man I might feel the way that these songs show feelings about. There is not much I value above the value I give to Love, and those things that love represent.

There are many times when I wondered how it was that someone who did not have such feelings could write so exquisitely those feelings, and assumed that the writer had some muse in mind. Otherwise, there could be no soul to the song. I never could believe that a writer could write what he does not know of himself. Which means that Jim Steinman knows love very well. And that is not, making love out of nothing at all.
