| My name is Ed. I'm 27 and live in Lexington, Kentucky, with my wife, Lorrie. I'm a journalist who covers horse racing, so I get to travel a bit, which is fun. I first heard Jim when Bat II came out. I was a freshman in high school, and the whole disc blew me away. My favorite song on the album changed daily (though I've finally settled on IDAFL[BIWDT]). For the 18 months after hearing Bat II I consumed everything Meat Loaf, but it wasn't until I took the plunge on Bad For Good that I became a Steinmaniac. Then the real fun began searching for everything he had anything to do with. There was a time when something as accessible as Pandora's Box was the holy grail (had to have it imported at specialty stores). I'm generally not a "back in the good old days" kind of guy, but the Steinman community in the mid 90s was awesome. I struck up a genuine friendship with Moco Steinman, and though we drifted apart, I cherish our memories--highlighted by meeting Jim on December 21, 1996, after seeing Whistle in D.C. Michael Dube belongs on that short list, too. We traveled to Amherst together for a Dream Engine reunion, which led to the sharing of that musical--powerful stuff. I've also met Marklbetya, though that had as much to do with our love for horse racing as it did Jim, and RBBucks. Jim has had such a profound impact on my life not only because of the music but also because of the people he has brought together through his music. > I've had the pleasure to meet dozens and dozens of the > members of this board and the Steinman fan community. > That's the way to know people - meet them.
