In the days before he had an official blog, he was something of an enigma. JD was the only real liasion of reliable information that came down from him. There was speculation that he didn't own a computer or even a telephone and mixed messages about how much of the board he actually read--many of us presumed it was only the ones JD culled out for him to check out that she thought would interest him. One perpepetually stupid thing that thankfully has stopped was the 'was that JIM who really posted that?' speculations.
I was so very glad when Jim started the blog like so many other celebrities have because it does make him more 'real' to those of us who most likely will never get the chance to meet him and it also gives him a chance to set whatever records straight that he wishes to.
I was suprised at just how much notice he had taken of the RR, by the remarks he made on his blog. So I'd venture a guess that he does look in from time to time.
The tales told by the lucky ones who attended Steinmeets and had the chance to actually meet Jim have been some of my favourite things posted here. There are links somewhere to some of these on the web, floating around.
But by all accounts, he seems like a real gentleman, very quick-witted with a genuine interest in his fans. He also apparently has an amazing memory for names and faces. I guess he's somewhat shy, but a pack of rabid Steinfans would probably do that to anybody!
