Not only what you call "crazies" are likely to be put off by things like that.
I myself, e.g., don't even have a credit card. Plus I dislike boards, lists etc. where I have to give away personal, private data just to be allowed to register.

I still treasure all of my Neverland Chronicles. They were great back then and I never regretted paying the "overseas membership fee".
It was at a time, though, when there was hardly any Jim-related info to be found anywhere, esp. on the internet (except for Steen's site). It was also before there was a message board and before the number of Steinfans rose to a number as today's. So, there was actually kind of a need for the Neverland Chronicles and there were lots of topics to be discussed, written about etc. There was a lot of Jim's past material to catch up on, to be discovered...

What would be in today's Neverland Chronicles? -- Message board posts often mention or bemoan the fact that there is hardly anything [Jim-related] left to talk about. Even the Jimlist is dead just because no one writes anymore. The Neverland chronicles were there to celebrate Jim's work (and help to find info about it), so were the mailing list and so was the message board and they both kind of replaced the Chronicles because it all was easier, faster, more recent, cheaper than sending out printed stuff.
If I look at the list and the board today, it doesn't feel like a time for new Neverland Chronicles.
