Not sure why you got such a dismissive reply there wolf, so I'll at least try to answer your questions as best I can.

I think the reason Rory sang 'Surf's Up' and 'R&R Dreams' is that they were both out of Jim's range. No way Jim could have hit the high notes consistently in the chorus of 'Surf..' and then in 'R&R Dreams' you have that horrendously difficult part '...when you're alone and afraid and you're completely amazed...' which is just an absolute bugger to try to sing. Even Meat struggled with it on Bat 2 because you need a very large vocal range to do it without 'mangling' the words a bit. Try it for yourself ;-)

Not sure what you're referring to with the LA Radio project, but I'm guessing it's the album that was referred to briefly in 'Phenomenology...'. Without digging out my copy of the book (so going completely on my rather poor memory) there was a project which I think had something to do with Phil Spector and Jim contributed just one monologue - 'Shadows on the Freeway'. The album was never released, possibly never even finished, but 'Shadows...' was basically 'Nocturnal Pleasures' if I recall correctly.

Maybe someone with a better memory or a tighter grip of the facts will confirm or correct me on that!
