First, I don't think you can totally believe anything either one of them says. Meat's a BS artist; Jim just lives in his own world. But my feeling has always been that Jim needs Meat and views him with amused fascination more than actually liked him. Meat Loaf obviously needs Jim and views him with admiration and no small amount of incomprehension. I think Meat thinks Jim likes him better than he does.
