| Nice entry here from Rory Dodd: To quote a phrase which struck and still strikes a chord thru not just America but world wide "I remember every little thing as if it happend only yesterday",And believe me I was there from the start, from sleeping on Meat Loafs' couch, thru the production of the album, the deal with Bearsville records, flying out to L.A. to once again audition live with just a piano,Meat,Jim,Ellen and myself in Mo Austins' office at Warners, who declined the project, to the day we auditioned again in that small room in the Steinway building on West 57th st. for Steve, who took all of 15 minutes to see in us what countless others had not.So with an album already in the can we proceeded to put a band together, rehearse and finally hit the road in September of 1977.The record not doing so well was called dead several times by Columbia but Steve refused to belive it and worked evey radio station he could find to get on the album. We are talking about a man who turned up in the most God forsaken towns America has to offer and surprise us after the show, coming back stage proclaiming that "this was the best damn show I ever saw in my life".The man would do anything to help keep our spirits afloat to make us feel like we were making a difference in the success of the album and then off he went to the local station no matter how large or how small to talk the d.,j. into giving Bat more air play. This is a man who called my mother in Canada {small fishing town,2800 people} just to let her know that I was a fine young man and not to worry as I was well and doing great on the road.Who else would even contemplate taking the time to do so.All in all as I will contest forever,Steve is one of a kind and Sony should not only drop to its' knee's and beg for forgiveness but to kiss the ground that he walks on and perhaps learn the true meaning of the word "Humility".Steve you are one of the great ones and I will stand and fight for you if anyone says differently.Take care old friend I love and miss you.
