I'm thinking Depp primarily for his acting skills and box office appeal.
Secondly, I think his 'look' in Sweeney Todd is 'close' to what Krolock should/could be.
Has he got a 'babyface'? Hmmm....not so sure, in any case there is always wigs and make-up (Steve Barton looked nothing like the Krolock he created, after make-up?).
Vocally I'm not sure (yet); I'll wait until I've seen Sweeney.
Even though the film is Polanski's 'baby', I love Tim Burton's take on 'gothic' (Sleepy Hollow, Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, Scissorhands etc etc) and would love to see him direct.
Polanski can 'star' as Abronsius, Meat Loaf as Chagal and Jim has gotta be in there somewhere (one of the Inn regulars?)!
