Glad to answer. I saw the show in Hartford. No, I wasn't there the night of the famous Jobin-Steinman-Old Lady party, but I'm glad I missed it. It enabled me to focus more on the show's problems instead of just being a fan boy looking over his shoulder at Jim the whole time.

When I say the original, I mean both premiere mountings (i.e. Washington '96 and London '98). I followed the coverage of both shows as an ALW fan and did in depth research after the fact, including reading a Hal Prince bio for more on the Washington production. It is from my reading and research that I derive my opinions of the original production.
