De Niro is unlike you've ever seen him in Stardust. Unless the priest he played in Goodfellas had the same streak to him as his character in this movie.
And there's one actor I absolutely can't stand, because he probably can't even act his way through a movie about himself: Nicholas Cage. For the love of all that's bright and shiny, I can't see why people seem to think he's anything more than a fourth rate hack, and I'd use much of the same arguments you have for De Niro.
