| So it’s been about a year since the album I don’t care to name was released. After 30 years of constantly listening to Meat Loaf waiting for every new release or snippet of information I still have no desire to purchase it. Do I feel this way out of the love of the music of Jim Steinman no I don’t think so. I do it for one reason and one reason only it is the only way I can make a stand against this depredation of an album name that has meant so much to me for 30 years of my life. Now I am only one person my stance on this issue is futile it make little or no difference to the profit or success of this album. But what it means is I am true to my feelings the love affair I have with Bat out of hell can continue untarnished by an imitation. Through the last 30 years I have waited excited for every new Meat loaf release some of which have fell short. I would have waited just as eagerly for this last album had it not been for either the absence of Jim Steinman or the use of four words Bat Out Of Hell. Now last night I sit watching television and an advert comes on advertising the three bats Live DVD and all the old feelings of a year ago come back. Sure I’m being sad and maybe I need to get a life but to put it into context this is how much the album Bat Out Of Hell means to me Like the album I won’t be rushing out to buy the DVD once again I will cut of my nose to spite my face my small insignificant protest will continue for the time being at least. I live for the day though I doubt it will ever come when I hear the words from Mr Loaf that it was a mistake to release album in this way and call it Bat out of Hell. | |
