I think we may agree that Steinman may be better off placing his songs with top artists in their prime. I guess I have my doubts about whether that is still a realistic possibility. If it isn't, I'd still prefer Bonnie Tyler and Meat Loaf singing new songs to the same old songs recycled for tourists on the West End.

As far as the two we have been discussing, I'm not sure if anyone has heard Britney sing live without some flown-in vocals since she was 13 or 14, but she's an entertainer and not a vocalist and I wouldn't have a problem with Steinman recording a new song with her and getting Ken Russell to direct the video. Reba has a great voice, but stylistically she's sounding her age, lately. I'd prefer Bonnie, but I wouldn't mind if Steinman recorded a new song with her, either.

When I was talking about covers, I meant Steinman covering Steinman songs. As I'm sure you've noticed, the guy just doesn't give up! :) I agree, though, that Desmond's covers were disappointments (although, I think he got a decent performance out of Meat on the vocals).
