Meat Loaf live

I guess I have been to my last Meat Loaf concert on Monday night in Mannheim / Germany.

What was written in a much more dramatic and somewhat unfair manner two days later in some local newspapers I wrote directly after the show.

Today I read the review from his show yesterday in Nürnberg / Bavaria. The same like before and I BET it wonīt change anymore. Sad, very very sad but true.

I was there with my mother and my love Antonina and they both werenīt too disappointed. So was I. But only because I didnīt expect ANYTHING from Meat. They werenīt too disappointed mainly because they honoured that he at least tried to make the impossible happen. He tried too hard and failed miserably. Most of the time he didnīt hit the notes. Often, too often he was too slow or to fast. When he was to slow it looked like his tongue just wasnīt able to do what he wanted it to do. It sounded like some kind of Dysarthrie (look wikipedia). Many times, too many times his voice just wasnīt there at all!

He was the complete opposite of his bg singers and the band. I wonīt go into details like his slow moving because I donīt think it would be fair to do this. Heīs 60 and heīs not on stage to jump around, but to sing and act. Singing isnīt there anymore, he should quit after this tour and concentrate on acting. I have to agree with this one headline saying it was an agonizing self dismantlement (guess you know what I mean). Heīs definitely ruining his reputation. I read many comments of fans that he should go on doing this because he sounded much better than the last time etc.... I am still a fan saying the opposite.
My example was this: If you do something really really bad without recognizing it and your so called friends (fans) tell you to go on, you were great with it - you go on. And on and on and on and you sink deeper and deeper in the mud until you drown in your own shit. I have a feeling thatīs exactly whatīs happening with Meat at the moment. I am still a fan and I donīt want him to drown in his own shit. Thatīs why Iīm saying he has to stop. Not because I donīt want to see him on stage but because I donīt want him to shatter himself to the ground with his own high expectations he just canīt fulfill anymore.
Michael, I know you still see him as a great performer but believe me - most of the people saying this are his die hard fans and they donīt do him a favour with saying it.
Others just walk away shaking their heads with pity.

Markus.
