Warner Bros, who own the rights to Batman wanted to release "Batman Begins" and re-invent the entire franchise while distancing itself from the failure of "Batman Forever" and "Batman & Robin". Warner Brothers Theater Ventures axed the Batman musical project stating that it would be a conflict of interest from the new direction they wanted to go into on CBR and instead backed Lestat The Musical.
