No Sleep 'til Shrewsbury

Just to begin, I must state that I'm absolutely exhausted, but what a ride this last weekend has been!

Friday started (for me) at 4am, when I had to drive to Stansted in order to catch a plane to Germany. I was picked up at Paderborn airport and driven to a barracks somewhere near Gütersloh. After being fed and watered by the wonderful NAAFI staff, I was shown to my quarters where I could get my head down for a bit (though I was far too excited to sleep!). At 11pm local time I hit the stage for one of the most surreal shows of my life. The audience were great, epecially a guy going by the rather worrying name of Smudge who didn't move from front and centre all night, singing every word and practically almost fainting each time I went near. I think someone must not have explained that I'm a tribute act, not the real Meat

Anyway, the long and short of it is that the powers that be were very impressed, and now want me to come back next year to play at lots more of their garrisons around Germany and Holland (the one guy I spoke to, Paul, is in charge of booking 64 venues!)

At 6.55 I had to fly back to Stansted, and start my journey accross England to Shrewsbury where I'd be appearing alongside Yvonne Hayen as Cher. I've seen Yvonne's show before, so knew it'd be a Hell of a night, and I wasn't disappointed. She really is a fantastic person, and if you ever get a chance to see her show, go along because you won't regret it. Also, I had the added bonus of her coming back on during my set to sing Dead Ringer. I only wish I'd recorded it, it was that good!

It was a fantastic night, the audience was absolutely amazing, and it was the first sell-out that the club had seen in a very long time. A special mention goes to another worryingly named fella called Dogger for his fabulous sportsmanship!

I got home at 4am on Sunday morning, exactly 48 hours after I'd left, and with no sleep, thoroughly exhausted and desperate for my warm and comfortable bed. But you know what? I'd do it all again in a heartbeat!
