Had Meat Loaf released No Matter What as a single, it wouldn't have been a hit and they needed a hit. Also wasn't Meats NMW on TVBO released the same time (near enough) as NMW by Boyzone?

WDTW closed long after NMW left the charts. So although the song might have generated some initial interest, the demographic of people buying the single and the demographic of people who go to musical theatre in general, are poles apart. Theatregoers don't usually go to a musical to hear one song being performed.

Also, if you compare WDTW to some of ALW's other musicals, then no it wasn't successful. Just like if you compare Bat3 to Bat1 or Bat2 then that appears not to be successful either ;o)
