I have only been posting here for a few weeks and haven't had any problems with anyone at all. I guess it's all in the vibe you give off. There is negativity everywhere and that negativity will sniff out anyone who invites it.

It's true that people are a bit touchy around here, from what I have read in some of the past threads I have been browsing, but it is due mainly to an unwritten "no bullshit tolerance" policy that a lot of the more long-standing members here uphold.

I think it would do a lot of people good, if they wish to join the discussions here or anywhere else, to read some of the past threads to get the general feel of what type of social atmosphere there is here. That's what I did and I learned quite quickly how to talk to people. It's necessary to do this because it is necessary for a person to adapt to the group when they join, not the other way around.

That being said, I agree that there are very few things to talk about Jim-related these days and there is only a finite amount of things that can be discussed without boring repetition. I belong to another forum that has the same problem. There is too little to talk about without repeating.

What will carry a community through those times is the same thing that has carried this community through those times, a strong membership base that is intelligent and insightful enough to keep the conversation going somehow, even if it seems to lag at times. Most importantly, what keeps a community together most of all is a deep and long-lasting love and respect for a certain body of work.
