| I agree with much preferring musicals that have lyrics specifically written in conjunction with the book. The dilemna with 'jukebox' musicals, is that your always trying to fit established music/lyrics to a 'new' story. I think Ben Elton's book is horrid on 'We Will Rock You', even though the show is a huge financial success. Jim seems confident that he and Stephen Clark are coming up with a great book (obviously to work with the songs), so we will see. I can't see him tinkering too much with the lyrics to Bat Out Of Hell, being the centre-piece song, but he may use a lot of songs that the public aren't too familiar with, and then alter lyrics? No-one will know, right?? LOL! BTW - I haven't forgot your stuff; I'm slowly working on it. > I prefer musicals with lyrics written (or at least > revised) to fit the plot perfectly, so major re-writes of > old tunes are not a problem for me....the original lyrics > can be saved for The Dream Engine, if/when they're back on > stage again... | |
