I think Not Allowed To Love is a great song at least lyrically . The melody is real strong too. It's the production that's boring. Given that 3 versions were done, it kind of shows that Jim was trying different things to make it work. BTW, I'm glad these versions were accidentally leaked in the first place.
Although not a big fan of R&B, if this were performed by somebody like Rhianna or Beyonce with a top notch producer, this could be a hit. It just wouldn't sound like a Steinman tune. But I guess as long as the check cashes, what's the difference.
